Goodbye Basel

We had three great years in Switzerland. We return to the U.S. with amazing experiences, new friends, an expanded perspective on the world and our place in it, CHF 2,200 in speeding tickets, two cats and a beautiful new Wilan.

Random comment overheard by me, comment made by one of my sons to his friend:

“You can taste a buffalo’s vagina.”

I have no idea about the conversation leading up to this comment, and my son could not explain to me what he meant by it or why he said it. But he really doesn’t need to explain. Because it is awesome. I think this may become my new catch phrase. You may use it, too. Try it out at work, home, or wherever.

Boss: “Sue, what’re your thoughts on the McAdams account?”
Sue: “You can taste a buffalo’s vagina.”

Waiter: “How’s the steak, sir?”
Diner: “You can taste a buffalo’s vagina.”

PTA President: “Any questions, folks?”
You raise your hand: “You can taste a buffalo’s vagina.”

Wife: “How was your day, honey?”
Husband: “You can taste a buffalo’s vagina.”

Mother-in-law: “Would you mind if _______________________.”
Son/Daughter-in-law: “You can taste a buffalo’s vagina.”

Steer 1: “What’s so great about going out with a bison instead of a cow?”
Steer 2: “You can taste a buffalo’s vagina.”

Always perfect!

Ginger Perv

Is that gingerbread, or are you just happy to see me?

Gingerbread Man, indeed.

Gingerbread envy?

This is a huge billboard at the entrance of a mega grocery store in a town next to Basel. Did no one proof this ad? Is this gingerbread man a bit odd, or is it just me?

A Room with a View

The olive fields surrounding our villa in Monte Porzio Catone.

Still Life, Rome

We are staying at a villa on a working olive farm and vineyard in Monte Porzio Catone, just outside Rome. The kitchen is one of the busiest places on the farm. This was a rare quiet moment.
